The Organization Justice in Aging Summarized the effect on seniors of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) which passed the House recently.
“Last week, the American Health Care Act (AHCA) passed the House by a vote of 217 to 213. The bill strips coverage from 24 million people, ends Medicaid as we know it, weakens Medicare, imposes an “age tax” on seniors, and guts the ACA’s pre-existing conditions protections. The bill is an all-out assault on the health and long-term care needs of older adults. For more information on how this bill particularly harms older adults, read Justice in Aging’s statement on the AHCA’s passage in the House and our blog.”
This legislation should be a concern to seniors everywhere, but especially here in New York and Connecticut where the cost of care is high.
